Our team has extensive experience working for, and with, government agencies, here in New York City and across the globe. During our time together at NYC Planning, we frequently worked with multiple city agencies to build coalitions and to center design across projects and disciplines. We also build design and policy capacity in cities across the country and around the world including Addis Ababa, Los Angeles, Miami, Pune, Pretoria, Sao Paolo, Seoul, and Tel-Aviv, and advise NGOs and global entities such as UNHabitat, the World Wildlife Foundation and the Great Barrier Reef Foundation.
As a team, we know how to work with others, from the bottom up or the top down, to achieve consensus and, as a result, successful outcomes. By empowering leaders and creating locally-led coalitions with usable and engaged research and design, we help uncover new models for resourcing and partnership, and support the creation of new pathways for implementing place-based agendas.
Strategic Planning and Advising
Johnstown Future Works, 2022
We worked with the RK Mellon Foundation and the Community Foundation of the Alleghenies to plan a higher education facility in downtown Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Throughout 2022, we led a stakeholder group of local leaders to define a program and project, select a site and produce a conceptual design and operational plan. The project is now entering its next phase of implementation with funding pledges from a Pennsylvania State RCAP grant and local philanthropy. The project will bring a new engineering degree in advanced manufacturing into a historic department store building across from the Central Park in Downtown Johnstown. The daily presence of dozens of college students, faculty and staff will help to enliven local businesses and public spaces.
